Moritz Koenig 

Moritz (PhD, SOAS) is currently a visiting researcher at METU Asian Studies. He read law at Maastricht University (NL) and SOAS, University of London.

His research interests are transregional legal formations, vernacular politics, and histories 'from below', with an emphasis on Dutch colonialism in Indonesia. At METU, he is engaged in a research project on the history of Turkish foreign relations with Southeast Asia, especially in the formative period from 1923-1945. This project aims to capture the multitude of political subjectivities created in the encounter between Turkey and Southeast Asian polities as well as European Empire.
